Rich Hill: Rays' Franco 'going to be a Hall of Famer'
Boston Red Sox left-hander Rich Hill had some very high praise for Tampa Bay Rays phenom Wander Franco.
"I know this is a bold statement, but I think he's going to be a Hall of Famer," Hill said when asked about the 21-year-old Franco after a weekend series between the two clubs, according to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe.
Franco entered Sunday's action slashing .367/.371/.667 with three homers and an MLB-leading 22 hits over 14 games this season. He owns a career .844 OPS and finished as a 2021 AL Rookie of the Year finalist despite playing less than half a campaign.
The former top prospect has tormented the Red Sox during his brief career. Prior to Sunday's contest, he went deep five times with 18 RBIs and a 1.023 OPS over 18 regular-season games against the division rival.
