The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired outfielder Trayce Thompson from the Detroit Tigers for cash considerations, the Dodgers announced Monday.
Thompson planned to opt out of his contract with Detroit prior to the trade because there wasn't an opportunity to play on the major-league roster, reports Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic.
The 31-year-old Thompson, who's the brother of NBA star Klay Thompson, has slashed .305/.365/.721 with 17 homers over 41 games in Triple-A this season. The Tigers signed him to a minor-league contract in May after he was designated for assignment by the San Diego Padres.
The six-year veteran's best season came in 2016 when he went deep 13 times and boasted a .738 OPS over 80 games for the Dodgers.
