Judge wants to see more MLB players with signature sneakers
New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge believes it's time for MLB stars to have their own signature shoes.
"This is something I've been trying to talk to people about for a really long time," Judge told Joe La Puma of "Sneaker Shopping." "I feel like you look around the league, and you've got Mookie (Betts) out in L.A., (Fernando) Tatis (Jr.) in San Diego, (Ronald) Acuna (Jr.) down in Atlanta, and a couple of guys on the Yankees. It's time for us to bust some of these (sneakers) out."
Judge, who's the early-season favorite for AL MVP thanks to his MLB-leading 25 homers, acknowledged this could be a way to attract new baseball fans.
"If there's a way for some of these shoe companies to make their cleats look like off-field shoes, I think that would draw some kids in," the three-time All-Star said.
Mike Trout (Nike), Bryce Harper (Under Armour), Francisco Lindor (New Balance) currently have signature kicks. MLB legend and Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. was the first major leaguer to have his own shoe when the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 was released in 1996.
