Yankees bring back Wade in trade with Angels
The New York Yankees acquired utility man Tyler Wade in a deal with the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations, both clubs announced Thursday.
Wade spent five years with the Yankees before being dealt to the Angels in the offseason. He was designated for assignment by Los Angeles on July 3.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Wade makes them "a better team today than we were yesterday" because of the versatility and depth he provides, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. The executive added that Wade will report to the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate.
The 27-year-old hit one homer with a .544 OPS over 67 games with the Angels this season. His best campaign came in 2021 when he slashed .268/.354/.323 with five round-trippers and 17 stolen bases across 103 contests for the Yankees.
