The San Francisco Giants signed right-hander Ken Giles to a minor-league contract, the team announced Monday.
Giles was released by the Seattle Mariners last week after appearing in only five games. The eight-year veteran didn't allow a run over 4 1/3 innings while recording six strikeouts but was in the minors on a rehab assignment due to a shoulder injury.
The 31-year-old missed the entire 2021 campaign because of Tommy John surgery.
Giles has been very productive when healthy, accruing a 2.71 ERA with 12.3 K/9 and 115 saves over 362 career appearances with the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays, and Mariners.
