The St. Louis Cardinals and general manager Michael Girsch agreed to a multi-year contract extension, president of baseball operations John Mozeliak announced Monday, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Girsch's deal was set to expire at the end of the World Series. He's been the club's GM since 2017.

The 44-year-old has led the Cardinals to four playoff appearances and two division titles during his tenure.

St. Louis also gave assistant general manager and director of scouting Randy Flores a multi-year extension.

"(Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr.) and I are excited to know the future of the organization is in strong hands," Mozeliak said. "We're glad our leadership group is intact."

The Cardinals went 93-69 in 2022 but were knocked out of the postseason in the wild-card round by the Philadelphia Phillies.
