Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Dustin May will have right elbow surgery to repair his flexor tendon on July 18, the club announced Tuesday.

The typical recovery time for this procedure is six-to-nine months.

May will also undergo a Tommy John revision for a Grade 2 sprain of his ulnar collateral ligament, a source told Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.

The 25-year-old suffered a flexor pronator strain in mid-May. The Dodgers originally said he would miss at least one month following the injury.

May posted a 2.63 ERA with 0.94 WHIP and 34 strikeouts over 48 innings (nine starts) this season.

He underwent Tommy John surgery to repair a torn UCL in his right elbow during the 2021 campaign.
