The Chicago White Sox acquired right-hander Mike Mayers from the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations, the clubs announced Wednesday.

Mayers owns a 6.16 ERA with 1.67 WHIP and 17 strikeouts over 26 1/3 innings this season.

However, the 31-year-old reliever accrued a 3.34 ERA with 11.4 K/9 and a 1.7 fWAR over a combined 105 innings in 2020-21 while pitching for the Los Angeles Angels.

Chicago's bullpen has amassed the fourth-worst fWAR in baseball in the first half of the 2023 campaign.
