The Cleveland Guardians traded catcher Christian Bethancourt to the Miami Marlins for cash considerations, both teams announced Sunday.
The Guardians dealt Bethancourt after adding him off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays in early November. The move comes after Cleveland reportedly came to an agreement with veteran backstop Austin Hedges.
Bethancourt went deep 11 times with 33 RBIs and a .635 OPS over 104 games for the Rays last season.
The 32-year-old has also played for the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, and Atlanta Braves during his seven-year career.
