Rockies add Hudson, Stallings on 1-year deals
The Colorado Rockies agreed to one-year contracts with right-hander Dakota Hudson and catcher Jacob Stallings, the club announced Friday.
Both deals are worth $1.5 million, a source told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
Hudson's deal includes another $1.5 million worth of performance bonuses based on innings pitched, Feinsand added. Stallings' contract reportedly contains a mutual option for 2025 with a $500,000 buyout that could increase to $1 million.
Hudson owns a career 3.84 ERA with 1.39 WHIP while pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals between 2018-23. The 29-year-old authored a 4.98 ERA with 45 strikeouts over 81 1/3 innings (12 starts) last season.
Stallings, who won a 2021 Gold Glove with the Pittsburgh Pirates, is slashing .235/.312/.335 with 24 homers and 148 RBIs over eight years in the majors.
The 34-year-old ranked in the 84th percentile in blocks above average during the 2023 campaign.
To make room for the new players on the 40-man roster, Colorado placed catcher Brian Serven on waivers; he was then claimed by the Chicago Cubs. The team also outrighted infielder Alan Trejo to Triple-A Albuquerque.
