Rangers hopeful Seager will be ready for Opening Day after hernia surgery
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is expected to miss the majority of spring training after undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia, general manager Chris Young announced Tuesday, according to Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News.
Young added the team is hopeful Seager will be ready for the start of the 2024 season but didn't give a specific timetable for the reigning World Series MVP's return to action.
The 29-year-old sustained the injury at the end of the Rangers' season.
Seager finished as the AL MVP runner-up after going deep 33 times with 96 RBIs and a 1.013 OPS in just 119 games last season. The four-time All-Star slashed .318/.451/.682 with another six homers and 12 RBIs in the playoffs en route to helping Texas win its first World Series in franchise history.
