Judge on boos: 'I'd probably be doing the same'

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge acknowledged Saturday that he'd boo himself if he were a fan as his early season slump continued on his promotional bobblehead day.

"Oh, I've heard worse, and I'd probably be doing the same thing in their situation," Judge said after an 0-for-4 performance with four strikeouts that resulted in boos in a 2-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium, according to SNY.

The 2022 AL MVP is slashing .179/.323/.359 with three homers, 11 RBIs, and a team-high 27 strikeouts over 21 games in 2024.

Left-hander Nestor Cortes, who didn't allow a run with nine strikeouts over seven innings against the Rays, isn't thrilled about seeing his teammate booed.

"It's always disappointing. ... Feels like he's done a lot for this team, for this organization. He's going to come around," Cortes said.

Meanwhile, Yankees manager Aaron Boone isn't concerned by his superstar's early struggles at the plate.

"It's Aaron Judge. He'll be fine," Boone said, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic.
