Orioles call up 2020 No. 2 pick Kjerstad

The Baltimore Orioles recalled outfield prospect Heston Kjerstad on Tuesday, the team announced.
The 25-year-old was the No. 2 pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.
Kjerstad has been on a tear in Triple-A after failing to make the Orioles out of spring training following a brief 13-game run with the club in 2023. Entering Monday's action, he's gone deep 10 times and recorded 30 RBIs with a 1.176 OPS over 21 contests.
A spot in the outfield opened up for Kjerstad with Austin Hays landing on the injured list due to a strained calf.
Baltimore optioned catcher David Bañuelos in a corresponding move to make room for Kjerstad on the active roster.
