The Texas Rangers and right-hander Johnny Cueto agreed to a minor-league contract, the club announced Tuesday.
Cueto is expected to report to the team's complex in Surprise, Arizona.
The veteran hurler last pitched for the Miami Marlins in 2023, posting a 6.02 ERA with 1.26 WHIP and 6.7 K/9 over 52 1/3 innings (10 starts).
However, the 38-year-old had a strong 2022 campaign with the Chicago White Sox, authoring a 3.35 ERA over 158 1/3 innings (24 starts).
Cueto has also pitched for the Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, and San Francisco Giants over his 16-year career. The two-time All-Star won a title with the Royals in 2015.
