Braves ink Brian Anderson to major-league contract

The Atlanta Braves signed utility man Brian Anderson to an MLB deal, the club announced Tuesday.

Anderson will be active for Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox.

The 31-year-old has hit a combined 66 homers with 273 RBIs and a .740 OPS over seven years with the Miami Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers. His best season came in 2019 when he went deep 20 times with an .811 OPS over 126 games.

Anderson made 50 starts at third base and 35 starts in right field for the Brewers last season.

Atlanta transferred left-hander Tyler Matzek to the 60-day injured list to make room for Anderson on the 40-man roster.
