Soto leaves early vs. Twins due to forearm discomfort

New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto departed Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins with left forearm discomfort, the Yankees announced.

Soto, who was replaced by Alex Verdugo in the lineup and outfield, didn't return to action following an hour rain delay that started heading into the sixth inning.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Soto will get imaging Friday and that his forearm has been bothering him for the last week, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic.

"I don't know what it's going to show, but ... I know we're getting the imaging and seeing what's going to happen," Soto said postgame when asked if he's concerned, per Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News.

The 25-year-old superstar added that he hasn't dealt with an ailment like this in his career and doesn't know exactly when the discomfort and tightness started.

Soto was seen by a team doctor during the delay, and they decided not to push his forearm any further, according to Kirschner.

"It's kind of been something that's sore and lingering. ... Instead of ramping back up (during the delay), treating it, and getting ready, just decided to play it safe," Boone said, per SNY.

Soto entered the contest as one of the early AL MVP favorites, slashing .319/.422/.605 with 17 homers and 53 RBIs for the AL East-leading Yankees.
