The Minnesota Twins placed third baseman Royce Lewis on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain, they announced Wedesday.

In a corresponding move, the Twins selected infielder Brooks Lee, their No. 2-ranked prospect, per MLB.com, from Triple-A St. Paul.

Lewis suffered a Grade 2 strain of the adductor, president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. He'll be sidelined through the All-Star break at minimum and will be reevaluated by doctors at that time.

The adductor strain he's now dealing with is located close to where he previously suffered a quadriceps strain that cost him two-plus months of this season, Falvey noted. However, the Twins don't believe this adductor issue is as serious of a strain, according to Hayes.

Lewis exited Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers with what the Twins initially called left groin tightness, a few innings after he was slow to jog into second base when he hit a double. He said postgame that he was "not very optimistic" about his status, and he underwent an MRI on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Lewis has been one of Minnesota's best hitters when healthy, sporting a .292/.354/.685 slash line with 10 home runs and 18 RBIs in only 24 games this year.

Lewis, selected first overall by the Twins in 2017, has battled health issues throughout his brief big-league career. Over the last several seasons, he's suffered two torn knee ligaments as well as hamstring and oblique strains, in addition to this year's issues.

Lee, 23, was Minnesota's first-round draft choice (eighth overall) in 2022. Since returning from a herniated disc in his back earlier this month, he's been tearing up Triple-A pitching, hitting .329/.394/.635 with seven homers, 12 extra-base hits, and 21 RBIs in 20 games with St. Paul.

Lee will bat eighth and play third base in his big-league debut on Wednesday at Target Field. He's primarily played shortstop in the minors and made just 10 appearances at the hot corner.

To make room for Lee on the 40-man roster, Minnesota transferred pitcher Brock Stewart to the 60-day injured list.
