Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. wants to remain with Toronto in the short term and long term.

“Man, I don't want to leave. I want to stay here all my life. But this is business," Guerrero said when asked about his future with the struggling team following Thursday's loss to the Houston Astros, according to Scott Mitchell of TSN.

Guerrero added that he's not thinking about the money he could make through an extension or when he's eligible to test free agency after the 2025 campaign.

"My time is going to come. I don't know if it's soon or not, but it's going to come," said the 25-year-old slugger, who was just named an All-Star for the fourth time in his six-year career.

Guerrero acknowledged in late June that he would be open to playing for the Yankees if he was traded to New York after previously asserting repeatedly that he'd never suit up for the franchise.

Toronto dropped to a season-low nine games below .500 on Thursday. The club is now 8.5 games behind a final wild-card spot with the July 30 trade deadline looming.
