The Philadelphia Phillies acquired outfielder Austin Hays from the Baltimore Orioles for reliever Seranthony Domínguez and outfielder Cristian Pache, the clubs announced Friday.

Hays, who is arbitration-eligible through 2025, has dealt with injuries and is struggling to produce offensively this season after an All-Star campaign in 2023. He's gone deep just three times with 14 RBIs and a .711 OPS over 63 games after recording 16 homers with 67 RBIs and a .769 OPS in 144 contests last season.

The 29-year-old hit a career-high 22 long balls in 2021 across 131 contests. He's also a quality defender in the outfield, ranking in the 87th percentile in arm strength.

Phillies general manager Dave Dombrowski said he tried to trade for Hays before the last two trade deadlines, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. The executive added that he sees the player as a left fielder who can start against left-handed pitchers.

Domínguez, 29, owns a 4.75 ERA and 40 strikeouts across 38 appearances this season. The right-hander, who has a club option for 2025, has amassed a career 3.55 ERA with a 10.3 K/9 over six years in the majors.

Lastly, Pache is slashing .202/.288/.269 with nine RBIs over 50 games in 2024 as a bench player for the Phillies.
