Pirates snag Kiner-Falefa from Blue Jays
The Toronto Blue Jays traded utility man Isiah Kiner-Falefa and cash to the Pittsburgh Pirates for third base/outfield prospect Charles McAdoo, the clubs announced Tuesday.
Kiner-Falefa, who's expected to come off the injured list in the coming days after recovering from a knee sprain, is enjoying a career season. The 29-year-old is slashing .292/.338/.420 with seven homers and 33 RBIs over 82 games in 2024. Kiner-Falefa is under contract through the 2025 campaign after signing a two-year, $15-million pact in the offseason.
The seven-year veteran also provides solid defense. He won a Gold Glove in 2020 and currently ranks in the 89th percentile in baseball for range.
Meanwhile, McAdoo is the No. 12-ranked prospect in the Pirates' minor-league system, according to Baseball America. The 22-year-old has recorded 14 homers, 63 RBIs, 17 stolen bases, and a .932 OPS over a combined 87 games between Single-A and Double-A this year.
