The Cleveland Guardians acquired right-hander Alex Cobb from the San Francisco Giants for pitching prospect Jacob Bresnahan and a player to be named later, the clubs announced Tuesday.
Cobb has yet to pitch this season after undergoing hip surgery last October.
The Guardians plan for the 36-year-old to make one more rehab start before he joins their major-league rotation, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
Cobb posted a 3.87 ERA with 1.32 WHIP and 131 strikeouts over 151 1/3 innings (28 starts) during a 2023 All-Star season.
Meanwhile, Bresnahan owns a 2.54 ERA with 12.3 K/9 over 46 innings across two minor-league levels this season. The 19-year-old isn't ranked in the Guardians' top 30 prospects, per Baseball America.
