Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Jordan Montgomery took aim at his former agent, Scott Boras, for how he handled his free agency last offseason.

Montgomery drew interest from the Boston Red Sox but signed a one-year, $25-million deal to join the Diamondbacks.

"I had a Zoom call with (the Red Sox), that's really all I know. It went good," Montgomery said Friday, per Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald. "I don't know, obviously Boras kind of butchered it, so I'm just trying to move on from the offseason and try to forget it."

Montgomery fired Boras in April, replacing him with Joel Wolfe and Nick Chanock of Wasserman.

The Diamondbacks bumped the struggling Montgomery from the rotation in favor of right-hander Ryne Nelson. Montgomery owns a 6.44 ERA with a 1.67 WHIP across 19 starts this season.

Montgomery's vesting option will earn him $25 million next year if he makes at least 23 starts in 2024. The 31-year-old is currently scheduled to make $22.5 million if he returns to Arizona in 2025.
