Ohtani homers after his dog throws out 1st pitch on bobblehead night
Shohei Ohtani and his dog put on a paw-some show in Hollywood on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar hit a home run in his first at-bat in the first inning against the Baltimore Orioles after his canine friend, Decoy, was the star of the ceremonial first pitch on the duo's bobblehead night.
Ohtani finished with two hits, scored three runs, and stole two bases in the 6-4 win. The NL MVP favorite is now on pace for an unprecedented 51 round-trippers and 51 steals this season.
"It's a really special night," Ohtani said postgame, according to MLB.com's Juan Toribio. "I hope to buy some special snack for him."
Dodgers fans created a stir on social media when they started lining up for the promotional giveaway in the morning.
The first 40,000 fans received the bobblehead, which was the second of the season for Ohtani. There were also gold editions mixed in.
