Skip Schumaker notified Miami Marlins players that he won't be returning as the team's manager for the 2025 season or beyond, sources told Jeff Passan of ESPN.

The 2023 NL Manager of the Year is already away from the team for the final two games of the campaign due to a family issue.

Schumaker, 44, will reportedly be highly sought after as a free agent and continues to be well regarded despite the Marlins' 60-100 record in the midst of another rebuild, Passan adds.

The Marlins originally had a team option on Schumaker's contract for 2025. However, when Kim Ng resigned from her post as general manager due to the team wanting to hire a president of baseball operations over her, Schumaker's deal was restructured to remove the option.

Schumaker possesses a 143-178 record over his two-year career with Miami.

The Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox are the only two teams currently heading into the offseason without full-time managers.
