Mets sign Covey to 1-year contract

The New York Mets added some bullpen depth, signing veteran reliever Dylan Covey to a one-year contract, the club announced Thursday.

Financial terms of the agreement aren't yet known.

Covey dealt with shoulder tightness during spring training as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies and spent the 2024 campaign across three minor-league levels, posting a 2.66 ERA in 18 appearances.

The 33-year-old last appeared in the majors with the Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023. He went 1-3 that season with a 3.77 ERA in 43 appearances.

The Mets also signed veteran right-hander Chris Devenski to a minor-league contract on Monday as president of baseball operations David Stearns looks to add depth options to the bullpen heading into the offseason.
