Astros GM: We've had 'productive' talks with 'biggest priority' Bregman
Houston Astros general manager Dana Brown acknowledged he's had good conversations with agent Scott Boras about Alex Bregman.
"They have been productive, and we hope that some good things happen," Brown said Tuesday at the GM meetings, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. "I think we have a really good chance (at re-signing him)."
Brown didn't disclose if the Astros made an offer to the free-agent third baseman but said bringing back Bregman is atop the club's to-do list, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic.
"Our biggest priority is third base, without a doubt," Brown added. "We'd love to have Alex Bregman back."
The 30-year-old Bregman said he'd like to return to Houston after the team was eliminated in the wild-card series in early October. The two-time All-Star has played his whole nine-year career with the Astros, winning a pair of World Series titles.
