The Chicago White Sox and outfielder Austin Slater agreed to a one-year, $1.75-million contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Slater is coming off the worst season of his eight-year career, hitting two homers with 18 RBIs and a .586 OPS over a combined 84 games between the San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles, and Cincinnati Reds.
However, the 31-year-old slashed .257/.345/.412 with 24 long balls and a 113 wRC+ over 343 contests between 2021-23.
Slater is currently projected to start in right field for the White Sox with Luis Robert in center field and Andrew Benintendi in left field.
