Minnesota Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey acknowledged other clubs called about the availability of star shortstop Carlos Correa.

However, Falvey added the Twins would need to be presented with a great offer to contemplate pulling the trigger on a Correa trade.

"When he was on the field, (Correa) was one of the best players in the game," Falvey said Monday at the winter meetings, according to Bobby Nightengale of the Star Tribune. "He's a leader. He's a key member of the clubhouse.

"Obviously, you expect teams to call on players like that, especially with where we are and some of the conversations we're having with other clubs, but we want to win, so a high bar is set."

Falvey said in mid-November he plans to keep Correa for the 2025 season amid speculation the 30-year-old could be available.

The Twins' payroll is expected to stay around $130 million next season. The team finished with the 19th-lowest payroll in baseball in 2024 en route to missing the playoffs after a 2023 AL Central title and a trip to the ALDS.

Correa will make over $37 million in 2025 and still has over $134 million remaining on a six-year, $200-million pact he signed in January 2023 before potential vesting options kick in starting in the 2029 campaign.

The three-time All-Star slashed .310/.388/.517 with 14 homers and 54 RBIs last season but was limited to 86 games because of injuries.
