The Detroit Tigers and veteran infielder Gleyber Torres agreed to a one-year contract, the club announced Friday.

The deal is worth $15 million, sources told ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

The Tigers designated left-hander Bailey Horn for assignment to make room for Torres on the 40-man roster.

Torres slashed .257/.330/.378 with 15 home runs, 26 doubles, and 63 RBIs in 154 games with the New York Yankees last season. The 28-year-old also chipped in a pair of home runs, eight RBIs, and a .745 OPS during New York's run to the World Series.

Torres will play second base with Colt Keith moving over to first base, Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris said, according to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press.

Torres spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Yankees. He's a two-time All-Star and owns a lifetime .774 OPS with 138 home runs and 441 RBIs across 888 games.
