Brewers reportedly sign Margot after Perkins fractures shin

The Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a minor-league contract with veteran outfielder Manuel Margot, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Although the deal has yet to be announced, Margot was spotted at the Brewers' spring headquarters in Phoenix earlier Friday, according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Margot's addition occurred after Blake Perkins fractured his shin, manager Pat Murphy said, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. Perkins is expected to be out until May.

Margot is looking to rebound in Milwaukee after a difficult 2024 season with the Minnesota Twins. The 30-year-old hit a career-worst .238/.289/.337 with four home runs and 31 RBIs in 129 games with Minnesota last year. His usually reliable defense also took a hit, as he accrued minus-3 defensive runs saved and minus-5 outs above average over 688 1/3 defensive innings split evenly across all three outfield spots.

Margot is a lifetime .254/.307/.380 hitter with 56 homers and 314 RBIs across parts of nine big-league seasons with the Twins, Tampa Bay Rays, and San Diego Padres.
