The Boston Red Sox signed relief pitcher Matt Moore to a minor-league deal, a source told WEEI's Rob Bradford.
Moore, 35, made 51 appearances for the Los Angeles Angels out of the bullpen last season. He struggled to a 5.03 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with just 41 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings pitched.
The lefty fared much better in 2023, working to a 2.56 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with a 10.3 K/9 in 50 games.
The 13-year veteran returns to the AL East after beginning his career with the Tampa Bay Rays as a starting pitcher. He finished ninth in Cy Young voting and was named an All-Star in 2013.
Moore owns a 4.39 ERA (94 ERA+) through 1142 2/3 career innings.
