Dodgers' Sasaki to make spring debut Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Roki Sasaki will make his spring training debut Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds, manager Dave Roberts said Friday, according to David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports.
Roberts added that Sasaki will follow starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto against the Reds.
Sasaki is one of the most anticipated rookies of the campaign after the 23-year-old was involved in a whirlwind offseason signing process that ended with him inking a minor-league contract with Los Angeles.
The Japanese right-hander came to MLB after four spectacular seasons in Nippon Professional Baseball, where he posted a 29-15 record with a 2.10 ERA and 11.5 K/9 in 394 2/3 innings for the Chiba Lotte Marines.
Sasaki is expected to be part of a deep Dodgers rotation featuring Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and the eventual mound return of Shohei Ohtani.
