Blue Jays' Bichette to play for Brazil with brother at 2026 WBC
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette plans to suit up for Brazil with his brother at the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
"It means a lot to our whole family that my brother (Dante Jr.) and I are playing," Bichette said, according to MLB.com's Ayako Oikawa. "We want to do our best to contribute to the team's victory and draw some attention to Brazilian baseball."
The Bichette brothers, who took part in the 2017 qualifiers, are eligible to play for Brazil because of their mother's nationality.
"There are a lot of great players in Brazil, and I hope that one day they will play in the majors," the two-time All-Star added.
Brazil will be in the same group as the United States, Mexico, Italy, and Great Britain in next year's WBC. Those countries will play at Daikin Park in Houston.
