Major League Baseball unveiled its finalists for this year's All-Star Game starting spots after the conclusion of Phase 1 of voting Thursday afternoon.

To little shock, the two reigning league MVPs - New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani - led their respective leagues, earning both automatic starting spots in July's showcase. Judge received 4,012,983 votes to lead all players, while Ohtani garnered an NL-high 3,967,668 votes.

This marks the second straight year that Judge, now a seven-time All-Star after hitting 28 homers in his first 80 games, was MLB's leading vote-getter. Ohtani, meanwhile, earned his fifth career All-Star berth and his first automatic starting spot since being acclaimed as the AL's DH in 2023.

The top two vote-getters from Phase 1 at each position (top six in the NL outfield, and top four in the AL outfield) will now face off in Phase 2 of voting for the right to start at this year's Midsummer Classic on July 15 at Atlanta's Truist Park. All vote totals will be reset.

The Dodgers have an MLB-high seven finalists, with one at each infield position and two in the outfield. In the AL, the Detroit Tigers lead the way with three finalists.

Phase 2 of All-Star voting runs from Monday at noon ET until Wednesday at noon.

The All-Star starters will be announced on July 2 at 7 p.m. ET.
