Braves snag Carrasco from Yankees to patch up depleted rotation

The Atlanta Braves acquired veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco from the New York Yankees for cash, the club announced Monday.

The Braves added Carrasco after trading for starter Erick Fedde in a deal with the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.

Atlanta currently has all five members of its starting rotation from the Opening Day roster sidelined, as Chris Sale, Reynaldo López, Spencer Schwellenbach, AJ Smith-Shawver, and Grant Holmes are dealing with long-term injuries.

Carrasco was designated for assignment and demoted to Triple-A in early June. The 38-year-old posted a 5.91 ERA with 1.53 WHIP and 25 strikeouts over 32 innings (six starts) with the Yankees this season.
