Report: Blue Jays open to trade offers for Berríos
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander José Berríos could be on the move this offseason.
The Blue Jays are willing to listen to trade offers for Berríos, a source told Mitch Bannon of The Athletic.
The club's rotation currently has a surplus of arms after reportedly agreeing to a three-year, $30-million contract with KBO MVP Cody Ponce on Tuesday.
Ponce will join a group that features Berríos, Kevin Gausman, Dylan Cease, Shane Bieber, and Trey Yesavage. Eric Lauer and Bowden Francis are depth options.
Berríos lost his rotation spot in September amid an inconsistent 2025 campaign before being sidelined with an elbow injury. The 31-year-old didn't pitch in the playoffs during the team's run to the World Series.
The two-time All-Star is still owed $67 million over the next three years but can opt out of his deal following next season. He's set to make $19 million in 2026, $24 million in 2027, and $24 million in 2028 after inking a seven-year, $131-million extension in November 2021.
Berríos owns a 4.09 ERA with 1.25 WHIP and 8.0 K/9 over 790 1/3 innings (138 starts) with the Blue Jays after being acquired from the Minnesota Twins in July 2021.
