Report: Bichette impressed with Red Sox after meeting
The Boston Red Sox and shortstop Bo Bichette recently met over Zoom, sources told Ari Alexander of 7News Boston.
The meeting went well for both sides, according to Alexander, who adds the free agent left the encounter impressed with the organization.
The Red Sox are set to have Trevor Story as their starting shortstop in 2026. However, the 27-year-old Bichette could play second base like he did for the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series, or replace Alex Bregman at third base. The latter is also looking for a new contract on the open market.
Boston has been linked to Bichette, Bregman, and Pete Alonso throughout the offseason, as the club attempts to add a prominent middle-of-the-order bat to bolster its lineup.
Bichette hit 18 home runs with a career-high 44 doubles, 94 RBIs, and an .840 OPS in 139 regular-season games before slashing .348/.444/.478 with one homer and six RBIs in the Fall Classic after coming back from a knee injury.
The two-time All-Star was one of the worst defensive shortstops in baseball in 2025, finishing last in the majors for outs above average over 130 starts.
