Yankees' Pineda ejected vs. Red Sox for having foreign substance on his neck
After Red Sox manager John Farrell was reluctant to call Yankees pitcher Micheal Pineda for using pine tar on his hand during their last meeting, the skipper wasn't going to let it happen a second time.
Farrell came out in the second inning of Wednesday's game to have Pineda checked, and after a quick examination by home plate umpire Gerry Davis, Pineda was tossed from the game.
Manager Joe Girardi came out for a brief discussion with Davis, but neither he or Pineda put up much of an argument.

Pineda, who finished Wednesday's game after allowing two runs off four hits in 1 2/3 innings, claimed the substance on his hand during his last start against the Red Sox was dirt.
The 25-year-old, who missed the last two seasons with a shoulder injury could face a suspension.
