Report: Dodgers talking to teams about Brandon League
The Los Angeles Dodgers added plenty of talent over the last few weeks, but president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman is reportedly looking to pare down his roster at the moment.
The Dodgers are talking to teams about veteran reliever Brandon League, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, and are reportedly willing to pay almost half of his $7.5-million salary for next season in order to consummate a trade.
The recent additions of Jimmy Rollins, Howie Kendrick, Brandon McCarthy and Brett Anderson have pushed the Dodgers' payroll north of $222 million for 2015, and Friedman's desire to trade League could be fueled by financial constraints.
League also hasn't done much to justify the three-year, $22.5-million deal he signed prior to the 2013 campaign. Though the 31-year-old right-hander crafted a 2.57 ERA over 63 appearances last season, his peripheral statistics improved little from his disastrous 2013 season, wherein he fashioned a 5.30 ERA with a 1.55 WHIP in 54 1/3 innings.
