Johnson to serve as Mets' DH in Game 1 of World Series

The addition of the designed hitter for Game 1 of the World Series will see New York Mets utility man Kelly Johnson get his first start of the postseason.
Manager Terry Collins announced Johnson as the Mets DH for Tuesday's Game 1, due in part to the left-handed hitter's success against Kansas City Royals starter Edinson Volquez.
Relegated to pinch-hitting duties throughout the playoffs, Johnson is 4-for-14 with a double and two RBIs against Volquez, though Collins said the DH for Game 2 against Johnny Cueto remains undecided.
"We thought tomorrow night that Kelly gave us our best opportunity, and if we need to make changes, we will," Collins told reporters.
Acquired from the Atlanta Braves prior to the non-waiver trade deadline, Johnson is 1-for-6 with four strikeouts this postseason.
Games 1 and 2 take place in Kansas City, with the next three games moving back to New York.
