Toronto shot-stopper Irwin shelved 4-5 weeks
Toronto FC will be without first-choice 'keeper Clint Irwin for 4-5 weeks after limping off in the 40th minute of Friday's drab 0-0 draw with Sporting Kansas City.
The club updated Irwin's condition Sunday with a statement on its website, adding that the 28-year-old suffered a hamstring injury.
Irwin was replaced by Alex Bono, who made several saves to keep Toronto in a match that the home side could have won were it not for some dire finishing in front of goal.
Bono, 22, will now man the first-choice duties in Irwin's absence, with TFC's next fixture April 8 against Atlanta United at BMO Field.
Irwin also missed time last season with a hamstring concern after joining Toronto in the summer from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for a third-round 2016 MLS SuperDraft pick, a conditional first-round pick in the 2017 draft, and targeted allocation money.
