Report: Orlando City captain Kaka ready to make 2016 debut
Orlando City captain Kaka is reportedly set to make his 2016 season debut Sunday against the Portland Timbers, with the Brazilian returning to full first-team training ahead of the weekend fixture.
The Brazilian midfielder had been sidelined for the first three games of the 2016 campaign with a thigh strain but says he's feeling fit and ready to go once more.
"It was a tough period but I always take experiences on the bright side," Kaka told reporters, according to the Orlando Sentinel's Alicia DelGallo. "If it was one week [earlier], it would be much worse, so it's OK, no problem, I'm ready to play now. It was a tough period but I'm ready now."
Kaka will not only have the chance to kick off his second season in MLS but also have the opportunity to be reunited on the field with the Lions' latest signing, former Brazilian international Julio Baptista. The two could be featured together in Orlando's match against the 2015 MLS Cup champions at the Citrus Bowl.
