'Cowboy' Cerrone slams UFC over compensation
Donald Cerrone wants to be paid like the veteran fighter he is.
After a TKO victory Saturday over Patrick Cote at UFC Fight Night 89 - the 30th victory of his professional career - "Cowboy" took aim at the UFC when asked about the excitement he brings to the table.
"God, that all sounds nice," Cerrone said, according to Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com. "According to my pay, I don't mean shit to the UFC. But we'll see. Maybe I'll talk to (UFC president) Dana (White) after this and see if we can figure that out."
Cerrone also indicated he's hoping to take on either Khabib Nurmagomedov or Nate Diaz in his next fight. The convincing win over Cote demonstrated Cerrone's ability to jump up to the welterweight division, and as such, he's willing to take a bout at whichever weight necessary.
"I like (155), I like (170)," Cerrone said. "Either way. Whatever the fastest trip to the next fight is. So if it's (155) or (170), that's the route I'm going."
Cerrone is 10-1 in his last 11 UFC fights, with all but three of those victories coming via early stoppages.
