Tate makes weight at last second, Hendricks lone UFC 200 fighter to miss
A star-studded card of fighters reported for UFC 200 weigh-ins Friday, and all was going according to plan before some late drama.
Officially checking in at 171.25 pounds, Johny Hendricks missed his weight by a mere 0.25 pounds. The difference is incredibly small, but the welterweight contender will now be fined 20 percent of his purse from Saturday's preliminary matchup with Kelvin Gastelum.
With all other fighters making weight, and nothing out of the ordinary on stage, the only other moment of tension came with Miesha Tate's late arrival.
The women's bantamweight champion was the last fighter to weight in, showing up right before the 10 a.m. PT deadline and narrowly avoiding a nightmare scenario in which she would have been removed from the card.
Though Tate did need a towel before stepping onto the scale, she was able to make weight at 134.5 pounds and thus officially lock in Saturday's main event.
