Maia vs. Covington among 5 fights confirmed for UFC Sao Paulo
Demian Maia is headed home.
The Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist will meet Colby Covington in a welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night 119 on Oct. 28 in his native Sao Paulo, the promotion confirmed Saturday following multiple reports.
Maia, 39, will look to get back in the win column after falling to welterweight champion Tyron Woodley by unanimous decision at UFC 214 last month. The Brazilian had won seven straight bouts prior to the defeat.
Covington heads to Maia's home country on a four-fight win streak, the most recent a unanimous decision over Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Fight Night 111. The eighth-ranked "Chaos" has gotten his hand raised in all but one of his eight promotional contests.
Also booked for the card is a middleweight tilt between Antonio Carlos Junior and Jack Hermansson, a bantamweight bout between Augusto Mendes and Boston Salmon, a flyweight battle of unbeatens Deiveson Figueiredo and Jarred Brooks, and a heavyweight bout between Christian Colombo and Carlos Felipe.
Returning former light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida faces Derek Brunson in the card's middleweight main event.
