Report: Chiesa out of hospital, plans on fighting Pettis after media day melee

It appears UFC 223's main card remained unscathed - mostly - following the debacle that transpired at the event's media day.

Lightweight Michael Chiesa is out of the hospital and aims to fight Anthony Pettis on Saturday after sustaining several lacerations on his face during the chaos started by Conor McGregor and his entourage at Thursday's media day in Brooklyn, MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani reports.

The 30-year-old did not require stitches for the cuts he sustained when McGregor and Co. smashed the window of a bus meant to transport Chiesa and several other fighters back to their hotel. He aims to finish the rest of his weight cut and tip the scales on Friday as previously scheduled, although the UFC has yet to provide any formal update on his status.

Rose Namajunas escaped the fracas without injury and was mentally shaken up by the incident, although she's since opted to remain on the card and defend her strawweight title against Joanna Jedrzejczyk in Saturday's co-headliner.

Featherweight Artem Lobov - a teammate of McGregor's who was involved in an altercation with lightweight nemesis Khabib Nurmagomedov earlier this week - has been pulled from a fight with Alex Caceres over his alleged role in Thursday's chaos. Police are currently investigating the incident.
