The body shot heard around the world.

Jose Aldo dropped Jeremy Stephens with an absolutely thunderous blow to the liver en route to a TKO victory in the first round of the co-main event at UFC on FOX 30 in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday night.

The two high-ranked featherweights traded heavy leather throughout the first half of the opening round. The result was a cut to Stephens' face and a bloody nose for Aldo.

Then this happened:

Stephens winced in pain almost immediately and Aldo pounced with ground strikes. The resulting TKO victory was Aldo's first stoppage win since 2013.

Aldo had entered the fight having lost twice to Max Holloway in 2017. The win over the No. 4-ranked featherweight puts the former champ back in the title conversation.

For Stephens, the loss was the 15th of his professional career.
