Morono replacing Sanchez in Cerrone fight
Donald Cerrone will fight Alex Morono at UFC Fight Night on Saturday, the promotion announced Tuesday.
Cerrone was initially set to face Diego Sanchez in the co-main event on May 8. But the promotion released Sanchez last week after neither his coach nor his attorney confirmed whether he was suffering from short- or long-term medical issues.
"Cowboy" is currently on a five-fight winless streak, with his last bout against Niko Price ending in a majority draw. The 38-year-old's last victory dates back to May 2019 against Al Iaquinta.
Meanwhile, Morono has lost two of his previous three fights, including a defeat to Anthony Pettis in his last appearance in December.
UFC Fight Night is set to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Marina Rodriguez will face Michelle Waterson in a women's flyweight clash in the main event.
