The UFC is working to finalize a light heavyweight main event between Magomed Ankalaev and Thiago Santos for its Fight Night card on March 12, sources told Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
Ankalaev, the No. 6-ranked light heavyweight, is on a seven-fight winning streak. The 29-year-old, who's one of the division's fastest-surging contenders, earned the two biggest wins of his career against Nikita Krylov and Volkan Oezdemir in February and October, respectively.
The No. 5-ranked Santos, 37, last fought on Oct. 2. He snapped a three-fight skid with a unanimous-decision victory over Johnny Walker.
The location of the event has yet to be announced.
