Volkanovski to undergo surgery, shares X-ray of broken thumb after UFC 276
UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski announced Thursday he's set to undergo surgery to repair the broken thumb he suffered in the second round of his trilogy bout against Max Holloway at UFC 276.
Volkanovski expects to miss three months.
"Broke my thumb in the second round, but that don't stop us," he tweeted. "Having surgery today and will be out for 12 weeks. Looking forward to getting back out there, thanks to everyone for the support."

The injury didn't stop Volkanovski from claiming a one-sided victory against Holloway. Volkanovski dominated the fight en route to earning a unanimous decision victory, his third against Holloway.
It's unclear who Volkanovski will fight next. The 33-year-old Australian, who's defended his belt four times, recently said he plans to move up to 155 pounds to also fight for the vacant lightweight title.
